To comply with legislation you should ensure that flammable liquids are stored in suitable fire-resistant cabinets which are designed to retain spills( capacity should be 110% of the volume of the largest container or 25% of overall capacity- whichever is greater)

To ensure that the fire-resistant cupboards meet the minimum performance requirements for compliance, they must be

  • Be made from materials capable of providing the required fire resistance
  • The joints must be free from opening of gaps
  • The doors should be close-fitting against the frame
  • The supports and fastenings must be made of a material with a melting point greater than 750c
